Yes, but only for your backup purposes in case you lose the original CD(s). Other copying is illegal.

2. How do I install the program disks

With Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 or Me running, Close all other applications, including screen savers and insert the PROGRAM CD in your CD-ROM drive.  The Setup program should auto-start and guide you through the installation steps. This time the program should find CD-ROM drive automatically and all fields should be sized as you adjusted.

5. Can I use the record counter

Only if you have installed the Data to your hard drive. CD-ROMs are generally too slow to accommodate this function.

6. How do I print reports

You must have the "Plus" or "Deluxe" version. Under "Edit" go to "Select" and type a number (eg. 100). The rows should turn dark blue. Then, go to "Report" and select desired fields on the left side of the dialog box to be moved to the right side by double clicking or by using pointing arrows. Set up printing orientation to "Landscape" otherwise all selected fields may not fit on one page. Next, click on "Generate". Make sure that your printer is on.

7. How do I print envelopes

The same as reports except click on envelopes icon on toolbar. Default setting is for Avery labels 5160 (3 labels across and 10 labels down or 30 labels per sheet). Only valid addresses will print and you may select more rows in case some addresses are not valid (zip4 is not present). All addresses with zip4 codes were certified against deliverable addresses, plus they contain delivery point and carrier route for use in bar-coding of envelopes or labels if this function is activated. Please refer to manual for details.

8. How do I export records

You must have the "Plus" or "Deluxe" version. Under "Edit" go to "Select" and type a number (eg. 100). The rows should turn dark blue. Then, go to "File", "Export". You will be prompted with the "Save As" dialog box to specify the filename and directory. The export dialog box appears. Select the fields you wish to export and use the "Add" button to insert it into the output menu. Repeat this until all the fields you wish to export are shown. When the "OK" button is pressed the field names will be replaced with you selected data. Use the "Space", "Comma", "Tab", and "Enter" buttons to format your output.

9. How do I design a query

Click on the Query button, drop-down menus, or keyboard shortcuts, to activate the Query window. From Field Names specify appropriate field. For example, "lastnamebiz" or any other field from drop-down list. It is important to remember that most fields are text fields but some are number fields. In number fields you can search using greater or less than values. After you choose the field, specify the appropriate operator. If you know the specific spelling for a text field, you can use "=l", however if you are not sure, use the operator "Like" and use the wildcard asterisk after the partial spelling.

If you have a modem, you can automatically dial the phone from the Digital Pages Software. First, highlight the record, pick up the handset of your telephone, and click the Single Dial icon (or Dial option from the Phone menu). The Single Dial window will appear and click Dial. To make multiple telephone calls, select the records with the check mark, keeping the first record highlighted (blue background). Move the mouse pointer over the record at the far left edge of the dataset window. The pointer will turn into a check mark. Click once with the left mouse button, and the selected record will turn blue. If you have a Plus version of the program, you may select a range of entries by choosing "Select" under the "Edit" menu, up to one thousand records at a time.

12. How can I improve the program's performance (speed)

a. Install the Database onto you Hard Drive (Please consult the manual. This requires up to 700MB of free hard disk space per county depending on the county)

b. Add more memory: 32MB is recommended,  64 MB or more is better.

c. Upgrade your CPU unit

13. How can I select more than 1000 recordsor the next range of records

Always start selecting records from the top of the database. The current (cursor) record is shaded a dark gray color. Select the first group of records (turns to dark blue color) and export or print. Then, go to "Edit" and "Unselect All". Your cursor record (dark gray) will stay on the last (bottom) selected record. This is your mark to start the next selection of records.

14. When querying or searching what does the response "Records not found" mean

It is possible there may not be that kind of record in the database. You may have misspelled the name, address, streetname, etc. Do not use commas (,) or periods (.) and do not use dollar signs ($) when searching in assessed value, income, or other monetary fields.

15. Is there is a limit on how many statements I can create in one query

Yes, presently you can create up to 7 query statements, but possibly less depending on the speed of your system.

16. Can I export other information besides the basic information

Only with the "Deluxe" version, the "Plus" version allows you to export basic information only.

17. How can I capture detail screens in Elite programs

You may use the function on your keyboard "Print Screen" or you may use 3rd party software like "Snag It" or "Screen Capture". Some of these programs are shareware and are not supported by Flash Data.

18. No matter what I do, my computer cannot read the CD-ROM!

Some older CD-ROM drives are more sensitive than others to the "gold" type of CD-ROMs. Some will not work at all. The only solution is to replace your CD-ROM drive. You may also try to use a different computer if you have an alternate available to you. This usually happens on older or low grade and "no-name" brand CD-ROM drives. Please contact Technical Support for the latest information.

19. Can I print barcodes on a dot-matrix printer

Generally, laser and ink-jet printers are the best for printing barcodes. The Postal Service has strict rules for the quality of barcode printing and most dot-matrix printer do not meet their standards. To be sure of acceptance, contact your local bulk mail coordinator at the Main Post Office. We recommend the use of laser or ink-jet printers.
